The Headstone’s of Seamus Murphy was made with the support of the Cork Film Centre’s Creative Documentary Award, which it received in late 2000.  It looks at the work of the Irish sculptor Seamus Murphy through the carving of the headstones, which was the craft which supported his art. It was shot in Cork city and county during early 2001 and premiered at the Cork International Film Festival that October.  I later returned to the subject of the Cork sculptor to make the full-length portrait Seamus Murphy: A Quiet Revolution (2014).  The later film was made under the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound and Vision scheme and in collaboration with Frameworks Films and Cork Community Television.

Trying to sell your soul, when the Devil Won’t Listen is a bitter sweet comic portrait of the punk band The Sultans of Ping best known for  ‘Where’s me jumper?’  The film was financed by RTE and premiered at the Cork Film Festival in 2002, where it garnered a special jury commendation. 

My First Motion Picture won the RTE/Cork Film Centre Short Script Award in 2003.  It premiered at The Cork Film Festival in 2004 where it won the Made in Cork Award.  It screened on RTE in early 2005 as part of their Shortscreen strand.

The Kings of Cork City was made during Cork’s tenure as European Capital of Culture in 2005, with a production grant facilitated by Cork Film Centre and the generous contributions of time and facilities given by CSN Department of Performing Arts. The film is a sideways look at the Irish obsession for Elvis Presley.
