Padraig Trehy has been making films for over twenty years and is just about ready to call himself a filmmaker. Up to now his films have been short in duration and varied in their ultimate exhibition, from film festivals and television, to special event screenings and gallery installations. Shem the Penman Sings Again marks his debut as a feature director, and is the culmination of the major concern of his films to date, that of the creative process.

He lectures in Film at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design. He will someday complete and submit his Phd thesis entitled From Music Hall to Bedroom: Charles Chaplin and the Sophistication of American Comedy.
